Have you noticed that there is a "wall" between us and the cartoon world? Sometimes a character will interact with an imaginary object in our world and respond to it. This is called "breaking the fourth wall," and it is handy to use in a cartoon series. To them, there are only three walls and the paper or screen is a window they can open anytime.

ReplyDeleteI like it when the characters use the screen or paper, as an interactive medium! Like Daffy Duck in "duck amuck".
ReplyDeleteErik, you should make a dictionary of these terms.
